Wizkid has also recently performed exponentially in terms of shows and tours, and has become the first African based act to sell out the world’s busiest music arena, O2 arena in London with a capacity of 20,000.
Spotify, often hailed as the saviour of the music industry, the biggest music streaming platform in the world, is a great way to know how well an artist is performing worldwide and Wizkid currently has 3.1 million monthly listeners on spotify and is second only to Mr Eazi with 4 million listeners for Nigeria based Afrobeat musicians. And in terms of social media following, Wizkid has 5.6 million followers on Instragram, which is less than Davido’s 7.1 million followers and 4.2 million followers on Twitter which is more than Davido’s 3.9 million followers.
In terms of where Wizkid’s fans are concentrated outside Africa, this should’nt a hard guess. Most of Wizkid’s fans outside Africa based on music streaming data are from the United Kingdom mostly around London. Other cities with thousands of WizKid’s listeners outside Africa include, Paris in France, Toronto in Canada, Santiago in Chile and Mexico City in Mexico.
