Zenith Bank’s entrance became a five star nightclub’s entrance on Thursday when an individual was singled out in a group of customers and disallowed entry into the bank by security officials who did not believe he had business in the bank based on their perceptions of the individual’s appearance.
For the group that were allowed to enter, the security officials of the bank later on approached them to ask accompanying individuals among them to wait outside the bank, stating that they were crowding the place, according to one of the accompanying individual. [Three's a crowd]
Too much weight is placed on how you look in Nigeria and if an individual’s looks do not appear somewhat expensive, be prepared to be harassed and now, even security officials of a bank have joined in this act of discrimination.
Many people derive joy from intimidating and oppressing others which has affected the nation, a problem that starts from the family and extends to those in positions of power/government officials.
The masses are highly impoverished and now, intimidating people whenever the chance arises is a way to take the pain away for many in the country.
