According to the US National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Patricia has now degraded to tropical depression status over northern Mexico. The Hurricane was one of the strongest to hit the Western Hemisphere ever but it degraded since it hit land on Friday evening. According to the Mexican government, the Hurricane so far, damaged between 3,000 and 3,500 houses. Adding that around 235,000 people had lost power supply as a result of the storm however, they have acted swiftly to solve the power problems and now, power has been restored to about half of the people who lost it earlier.
The latest on world golf rankings has seen the former number one in the world, Jason Day, return to reclaim the number one spot from Jordan Spieth. The change was confirmed recently via twitter by Fox Sports News and now, just 0.0272 points separate the world number one and number two.
Just two weeks ago, a hospital bombing in Afghanistan by the US left 22 dead and now, since the Russian airstrikes began in Syria, three hospitals have been bombed. The bombing killed at least 12 people in Idlib with three of the victims believed to be medical staff. According to Dr. Mohamed Tennari, the hospital has been previously targeted by ten other airstrikes.
The latest on the conflict between the two nations has seen the Israeli’s sports minister asking FIFA to condemn recent comments by her Palestinian counterpart in which she says amounts to incitement. In a letter to FIFA, Miri Regev stated that Palestinian football Chief Jibril Rajoub has been involved with “spearheading” a campaign of “libel and incitement”.
Franz Beckenbauer and FIFA/UEFA vice-president Angel Maria Villar Llona could be banned by FIFA for refusing to co-operate in the inquiry into the award of the next two World Cups. Yesterday, the two were confirmed to be subjects of proceedings relating to the bidding process for World Cup tournaments of 2018 and 2022. The decisions by the body’s head judge and colleagues regarding the cases of both men are pending according to FIFA’s ethics committee.
The UK is planning to develop a high-speed rail network which will connect the capital city London, to northern cities in the country and this multi-billion dollar project could be done by China’s CRRC Corp. The Chinese company is currently the world’s largest train maker who has made high-speed tracks stretching 10,000 miles and this feat is longer than what has been achieved in the rest of the world combined in terms of rail networks.
A photographer Hiroji Kubota has released a new photo book in which he pictured how the world has changed in the last 55 years from environments to cultures. To compile the 400 photos of the book, the photographer has traveled more than 3.5 million miles in his life. According to Kubota, 76, "I think by seeing my book very carefully, you see the state of the world a lot in the last 55 years -- how much the world changed for better or worse."
