There are several reasons why people may have breakouts on their face and some scientific studies prove that food can actually be the cause of acne in terms of the overall diet of an individual. Many people believe that certain foods can cause pimples and if you believe that too you’re not alone in the rain.
In fact, a study conducted in 2001 involving Melbourne University medical students, found out that approximately 4 in 10 students believed that food choices increased the symptoms of breakouts. Pimples all over the face can be very painful apart from the issue that it could be embarrassing when the condition is severe however are peanuts directly linked to pimples. Here, we explore the connection between peanuts and pimples as many people believe that peanuts can actually cause breakouts on the face.
First of all, scientific studies on specific foods that cause pimples show that there is no direct connections between foods like peanuts and acne however, as we pointed out earlier, a poor diet could cause imbalances in the body which could lead to pimples. According to Food Allergy Solutions, food allergies could be the main source for acne as anything that could affect the immune system leading to inflammation can cause breakouts on the face. As a result, eating foods like peanuts or peanut butter could trigger pimple breakouts on the face, but not solely because peanuts lead to pimples but because you may have an allergic reaction to peanuts. If such is the case with you, you should stop eating peanuts and contact your doctor. Furthermore, avoid foods containing peanuts as these could also trigger allergic reactions like acne.
Naturally, sebum is secreted at the roots of hair follicles by oil glands and it comes up to the skin’s surface and this is normal but when it gets excessive things could get complicated real fast. Pimples are caused by excessive secretion of sebum which mixes up with dirt and dead skin cells which clogs the pores of the skin and traps bacteria within the skin. The bacteria trapped in the skin digests the oil, secreting an acid that causes irritation within the skin. In a few hours, pimples breakout on the skin’s surface although this does not take long to heal however, when there is an infection, things could get worse as cyst could form in deep tissue resulting in scars when they heal.
During our teenage years, pimple breakouts occur frequently and this affected the lives of many especially in high school as pimples on the face was quite embarrassing in severe cases however, the main cause of the breakouts during teenage years were not as a of poor hygiene but rather the changes the body began to undergo as children develop to become adults. Just like many other changes teenagers begin to undergo as they hit puberty, the production of testosterone in the body increases, and this triggers acne in teenage years. This is why pimples often affect teenagers much more than adults although acne could still affect adults.

Many people conclude that oily and fatty foods such as peanut butter contribute to acne because of the perception that people mostly suffering from acne problems have oily skins however scientific studies do not support this correlation as other cultures in countries that have oily and fatty foods as part of their traditional diet did not show signs of acne. This led researchers to believe that the overall western diet may be the cause of acne rather than specific oily and fatty foods. Hence, it is important to improve your overall diet to ensure that hormonal imbalances do not occur to prevent excessive sebum production.
