Many companies today enjoy huge levels of profitability over time because of several reasons which could be competitiveness, superior service delivery, innovative products, or because they were just the forerunners in the industry.
Regardless, many companies who often started well end up with terrible customer service care. Although many companies may not take it seriously, customer service is very important regardless of the size of an organization and many companies are at risk of losing their market position because of this.
On several occasions many studies have shown that customer service quality can lead to greater profitability and in 2009, a study in china also supported these findings, revealing that “…customer satisfaction is significantly associated with contemporary and future financial performance.
Furthermore, the enterprises with higher-level customer satisfaction than others will enjoy higher profitability”. Hence, we make a list of five companies from around the globe with the worst customer service. Our list is based on rankings from websites such as, rankers.com, customer experiences, and other customer reviews from a variety of websites.
So let’s get to it.

So let’s get to it.
5. Sky – Sky UK limited is a company based in the UK that provides pay TV, broadband, and phone services. Their slogan “believe in better” is proudly touted in their adverts however, what most customers actually believe in is that the quality of their service would make anyone believe that there has got to be other better service providers.
To keep things short, “believe in better services from other service providers”. On trustpilot.com, a website dedicated to compiling customer reviews show Sky to have an average rating of 1.3/10 based on 750 reviews.
My personal experience with sky was also in line with the other 750 customers who were dissatisfied with their services. According to a customer on the website, Sky broadband is described as “nightmare – horrible service – do not get sky broadband” another dissatisfied customer plainly states “beware”.

4. Glo Nigeria – Although it is still not common for many Nigerians to go online to lay their complaints and review the services of companies operating in the country, based on the fact that only about 37 in 100 Nigerians go online.
This still doesn’t prevent you from finding reviews here and there online about how poor the services of Glo Ng could get. If you go to the company’s website to contact customer care via live chat, no one is mostly at the other end to respond to you. It makes one wonder why they put up the live chat option to contact customer care when it never works as it supposed to. Many customers complain that the company often looks for cheap tricks to bill customers and when you contact customer care, 9 out of 10 times, they are unable to sort out the problem or give a refund.
To keep things simple, as soon as something goes wrong and your money is taken by the company, regardless of the situation, you will probably never be able to get your money back. This company is a literal example of what it means to be successful because they were one of the first few telecommunications company in the industry highly favoured by the government because of its Nigerian roots.

3. Ryanair – Ryania is a low-cost airline company based in Ireland. The company is known to provide some of the cheapest flights money could buy, and if you can’t afford to fly Ryanair, you probably cannot afford your basic needs. The company is renowned to have very cheap flight and similarly the company is also known to have some of the most terrible customer service.
The adage “you get what you pay for” was basically coined for this company and sometimes you wonder which is more popular about the company between having cheap flight and having terrible customer service. Reviews by 1,156 customers put it at 2.8/10 and in the Which? Annual customer service poll, the company was ranked as the 3rd worst company is the UK.

The company which gave rise to the richest family in the world in constantly ranked in the list of the worst companies in the US in terms of customer service. In fact, it is quite difficult to find a single good review of the company’s customer service online.

According to a customer review on the website “I tried to get a phone, I asked for a brochure. I was told, "What do you need that for?" with attitude”. Furthermore, many reviews mostly complain about the attitudes and manners of the employees who often sound so angry like they a forced to do their jobs.

1. AT&T wireless – AT&T is an American telecommunications corporation who are currently the second largest mobile phone service provider in the US. On several lists all around the web, this company is listed as the worst customer service company you could ever encounter. With a rating of 1.1 on consumer affairs, and taking the top spot in websites like rankers and business insider, this company takes our top spot as the company with the worst customer care.
Their major competitor Verizon who are the number one in the US did not make this list which could set them up to grow even bigger in the future. Seeing a satisfied AT&T customer has the same effect as seeing a Unicorn in real life.

Customer service is very important to attract and retain customers and as research shows, repeat customers are much more valuable to a company in the long-term. Apple is a prime example of the benefits of having repeat customers and with terrible customer care, customers are often on the search to find other better product or service providers.
As soon as a competitor comes in with better service offerings, great prices and superior customer care, companies with poor customer care become a thing of the past to customers. It does not cost anything to be kind and companies should ensure that their employees are well informed. Please leave your comments below. Cheers.
